Therapy

Cupping Therapy

Suction cups applied over oiled skin to draw stagnant blood and lymph toward the surface, where the body can clear it.

What it is

Glass or silicone cups are placed over oiled skin and a vacuum is created, lifting the tissue beneath. The cups are either held still over a painful point or glided along the muscle. It sits alongside Raktamokshana in the classical understanding of clearing obstructed circulation.

What it helps

Muscular pain and tightness across the back, neck and shoulders, frozen shoulder, sciatica, sports injuries, and the deep stiffness that does not release with massage alone. Also used in some skin and respiratory conditions.

What to expect

Circular marks appear where the cups sat. They are not bruises in the usual sense and fade over three to seven days. Tell us in advance if you have an event where they would be visible.
