Therapy

Churna Pind Swedana

Dry fomentation with boluses of warm medicated powder, for pain that comes with swelling and heaviness.

What it is

Medicated powders such as Kolakulathadi are warmed and tied into boluses, then applied over the affected region. The treatment is dry by design, which distinguishes it from oil-based fomentation.

What it helps

Kapha and ama-dominant joint conditions, pain accompanied by swelling, stiffness and a sense of heaviness. Commonly used in osteoarthritis and chronic low back pain with inflammation.

What to expect

Heat is applied in short rhythmic contacts rather than sustained pressure. A course of seven to fourteen days is typical.
